Who?

I'm Heli! I've always done everything with my hands; knitted, sewn, sawed, shoveled, and that's why building mini worlds feels like a natural continuation, but still completely new. In mini crafts, it's wonderful to throw away everyday realism, you don't have to think about whether the wall paint can withstand wet wiping or whether the fireplace area is fireproof. What I like most is the possibility of varying materials and manufacturing methods. You can make anything from anything!

And sometimes I have wondered how I happened to open the door to this wonderful mini-world, which has pretty much taken me away. The door opened when the children no longer wanted to play in the Lundby house, so I inherited my first house from them. I wallpapered the walls, made wooden floors, repainted the staircase and all the surfaces. Along with the “renovation”, I made some furniture from cardboard, wooden sticks and other materials found around the house.

What is Skylark Miniatures?

Making furniture from recycled materials is really fun and it's wonderful to come up with something new from trash, but sometimes you'd like to take it easy and jump straight to the customization phase, where the furniture frame is already ready and you can just let your imagination run wild in what color or style you want to bring the furniture to life.

I had started building my own Lundby piece in the atmosphere of a bygone era; a cozy French “chateau” style with a relaxed vibe. There was just no furniture like this in this size. I decided to try designing and manufacturing it myself with a 3D printer that I already had at home. The first piece of furniture I designed was a bed. It was an amazing feeling when the product transformed from the computer screen into a piece of furniture in my hand. I immediately saw what kind of bed I would make, a little shabby and the bedclothes were soft and inviting sheets and pillows, and a crocheted wool blanket. It occurred to me that if I was so happy about this myself, could I offer the same feeling to others?

During the Covid period, sales events were limited, but I managed to book a place at the mini market. At the event, I received positive comments about my 1:16 scale products, but many people wanted them in the larger 1:12 scale. All the furniture in the range at that time was gradually scaled to a larger size and now all furniture is basically made in two sizes. Now, there has also been a request for 1:6 size and this is now being gradually made. The range is now also being supplemented by small interior products and customizable furniture from the Swedish Lampverkstad. I regularly participate in mini markets so that I can meet you other mini enthusiasts.

It's wonderful that we have a shared mini world!
